Patient Population

The patient population served by Internal Medicine department consists of Adult and Geriatric Patients. This department pertains to prevention, diagnosis and care of adults with general illness and disease, specifically the treatment of internal organs and symptoms, not usually treated by surgery.

General Medicine Division is one of the various divisions of the department of Medicine.
Cases Managed by General Medicine: (Both as in-patients & out patients).
  • Complete evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patient through OPD as well as in patient services, strong back up from laboratory and radiology department, indoor services wherein the physician opinion and consultation is available round the clock
  • OPD Services includes evaluation and management of lifestyle disease includes hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia, endocrine disorder like thyroid problems, medical illness due infections and other medical problems in adults.
  • The physician is also involved in the day to day management of ICU patients.
  • Round the clock ER service available
  • Most cases of hematology including:
    1. Anemia
  • Endocrinology cases including: (coordinating with Endocrinology Division)
    1. Diabetic Mellitus, Thyroid Disorder
  • Gastro-intestinal cases including: (coordinating with Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology)
    1. Chronic Hepatitis
    2. Irritable Bowel Syndrome – peptic disorder – various liver disorders.
    3. H.pylori Gastritis
  • Pulmonary cases including: (coordinating with Pulmonary Division)
    1. Pneumonia
    2. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
    3. Bronchial Asthma
    4. Upper Respiratory Tract Infection
  • Cardiovascular cases including: (Coordination with Cardiovascular Department)
    1. Hypertensive patients, dyslipidaemia
    2. Cases of chest pain
      1. Pre-operative Assessment of patient, who need major surgical procedures and having a morbid medical problems.
